Declaring the results of the first phase of the polls, Secretary of the State Election Commission, Satyaprakash Baswala today said that 89 candidates have been elected unopposed as sarpanches, whereas 4,311 sarpanches were elected through voting.
Similarly, 17,269 candidates were elected unopposed and 21,026 were elected through voting.
Elections for the panch and sarpanch posts were held yesterday and counting of the votes began after the polling got over in the evening.
