As many as 90 cases, related to militancy incidents, cross-border shelling and communal violence, were cleared for ex-gratia relief in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, officials said today.
A total of Rs 86 lakh would be provided as compensation to the 90 affected families whose cases were settled at the district-level coordination-cum-screening committee meeting, they said.
The officials said District Magistrate Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, chaired the meeting which was among others attended by the senior police, Army, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force and senior civil officers.
After threadbare discussions, all the 90 cases were cleared which included 12 militancy-related death cases involving payment of cash compensation and employment, thereby clearing the pendency in the district, the officials said.
They said the cases cleared pertained to the period 1993 to 2008 and once case of 2015.
In case of losses due to cross-border shelling, the officials said a total of 44 cases were cleared which included some deaths, injuries and damage to residential houses besides loss of livestock.
The district administration earlier cleared 72 militancy-related cases which were pending since last more than 20 years.
The officials said the committee cleared payment to six cases of communal violence in the district wherein immovable property was damaged.
