94,079 newspapers, magazines registered with govt

As many as 94,079 newspapers and magazines are registered with the government, while the number of TV channels is 795 and FM radio stations 242, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Of the 94,079 newspapers and magazines, 12,117 are dailies and 81,962 periodicals, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari told Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a query.
He also said the data about their readership and viewership is being collected.
