Pakistan's banned pace bowler Muhammad Aamir has again sustained an injury months before his five-year ban for spot-fixing ends in September.
The 22-year old-lef pacer suffered a hairline fracture in his right toe while playing in a Ramazan T20 tournament here.
"He was hit on the toe while collecting a throw from another fielder and after we took him to hospital it was revealed he had suffered a hairline fracture in his toe," Saeed Muhammad, the manager of the Sui Southern Gas team told PTI.
Aamir recently joined the Sui Gas team as part of its revamping process to form a strong outfit for the coming domestic season.
Saeed said that Aamir had been advised three weeks rest by the doctor for the injury to heal completely.
"It was an unfortunate incident as Aamir has been working very hard on his fitness preparing for the September deadline," he said.
Aamir recently also represented the same team in another T20 event in Faisalabad and bowled with fire.
The youngster was banned for spot-fixing by the International Cricket Council's anti-corruption tribunal in early 2011 and also served a jail term in England.
But last year the ICC allowed him to resume playing domestic cricket under new clauses of the anti-corruption code after Aamir admitted to his guilt and agreed to undergo rehabilitation with the ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board.
Many experts believe that once his ban ends in September Aamir could immediately be considered for national selection and could make an international comeback in the series against England in the UAE.
