Both Shastri and Shimla Shri had yesterday failed to file their papers due to goof ups.
While Shastri had arrived late at the election office, Shimla Shri's proposers did not have properly verified documents.
Interestingly, a delay in reaching the election office in time at Lucknow earlier this month had prevented Shastri from withdrawing his nomination in favour of AAP candidate Javed Jafri.
Grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shastri had been asked to file his papers from Lucknow as a "covering candidate" following apprehensions that Jafri's nominations might get rejected due to some technical reasons.
Consequently, he has ended up being an "Independent" candidate in Lucknow.
Both Allahabad and Phulpur constituencies will go to polls on May 7.
