AAP demands CBI probe into mysterious deaths in Vyapam scam

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today demanded a CBI probe into the mysterious deaths of those involved in the high-profile MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam.
"The mysterious deaths of the accused in VYAPAM scam should be handed over to the CBI as soon as possible. These deaths have added a dangerous proportion to the scam," AAP spokesman and party state convener Alok Agrawal told PTI.
He claimed that more than 40 accused in scam had died in mysterious conditions so far.
Agrawal said former MP Minister Laxmikant Sharma, an accused in the scam, was already incarcerated. Besides, names of high profile politicians and officers were cropping up in the scam.

In such a situation, it has become necessary that a CBI probe should be carried out in these unnatural deaths, he said.
The AAP leader also demanded protection of the arrested MPPEB accused and witnesses.

Vyapam scam, which came to light in 2013, is a massive admission and recruitment scandal involving politicians, bureaucrats and middlemen. A host of officials and scores of aspirants have been arrested in the case.
Two accused in the scam--Dr Rajendra Arya and Narendra Singh Tomar--died in Gwalior and Indore respectively this week adding another murky dimension to the massive scandal in which 25 accused and witnesses have died so far.

The most high-profile death was that of Shailesh Yadav, son of Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav.
Shailesh, 50, was found dead at his father's residence in Mall Avenue area of Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on March 25 this year.
