Taking forward its participatory budgeting exercise, the ruling AAP will hold the second instalment of its public consultations over the coming weekend covering 11 constituencies spread across Delhi.
According to a senior official, public meetings will be held at the Okhla, Shahdara, Dwarka, Shalimar Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Karawal Nagar, Chatarpur, Kirari, Sadar Bazaar, Patparganj and Bawana constituencies on Saturday and Sunday.
The AAP government had last week held consultations with the public in West Vinod Nagar, Sanjay Jheel and the Pocket-F area of Mayur Vihar Phase-II, which falls under Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia's Patparganj constituency.
The first meeting had seen Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia lead the discussions as the public took up local issues.
In West Vinod Nagar and Mayur Vihar Phase-II, residents wanted the government to install CCTV cameras and increase parking facilities while in Sanjay Jheel, people wanted sewer lines to be fixed and water pipelines to be installed.
The government has also come up with an advertisement seeking suggestions on participatory budgeting through email.
The AAP government is seeking to ascertain the public's wishes for preparing the budget as it aims at decentralisation of the decision-making process.
"Delhi has been divided into 12 segments and Rs 20 crore will be allotted to each. These segments will be further divided into 40 parts so each gets Rs 50 lakh. People can raise local issues and, at the end of the day, voting will be done.
"The issue which gets the maximum votes will be taken up on priority," the official said.
