AAP politicising murder of NDMC legal advisor: Tanwar

As the Aam Aadmi Party stepped up its attack on NDMC Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar in connection with murder of a civic body official, he rejected the allegations as baseless and said AAP is politicising the issue.
"The allegations raised by AAP against me are baseless, false and frivolous. They do not have any ground reality and are being made in a revengeful manner to politicise the issue," he told reporters.
Mohammed Moin Khan, a lawyer and an assistant legal advisor with NDMC, was shot dead a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order on the lease terms of hotel 'The Connaught' which was functioning on a property leased by the civic body.'

AAP has alleged that Tanwar had threatened the 57-year-old estate officer with dire consequences, a few days before his murder and demanded the Delhi Police arrest him and probe his "complicity" with the murderers.
The owner of The Connaught hotel and six others have been arrested in connection with the murder.
The main accused, Ramesh Kakkar, owner of the four-star hotel, is learnt to have sent two of his associates for a meeting which NDMC Vice Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar, who later sent a letter to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung seeking removal of estate officer Khan, eleven days before he was to give his final order on the hotel's lease.

"Two persons had approached him with a complaint against Khan and he is under pressure from some officials to rule out the matter against them. I wrote the same plaint to LG as since he is the appointing authority so he was only approached for an unbiased and impartial investigation," Tanwar said.
"I had never met those people before nor I have ever met the hotel owner. I have no personal connection with them," he added.
