Two girl students aged 17 years, from nearby Kadri and studying in a private tutorial had gone missing since February 11.
A missing complaint was lodged at Kadri police station and they were later traced from Madikeri and handed over to their parents.
The girls claimed that they had gone in search of jobs and had joined work in a fancy store at Madikeri.
They said they left their homes having been frustrated at the frequent reprimands of their family members.
The case has now been registered by police as one of abduction and entrusted to women's police station
More arrests are likely, police said.
