An Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) was arrested by anti-corruption vigilance wing in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district for allegedly taking Rs 4000 to approve pending bill of a Self Help Group (SHG).
Jaymuni Behera, ABEO of Jamda Block in Mayurbhanj, had demanded Rs 4,000 for approval of pending bill relating to the expenditure incurred due to Mid-day-Meal and supply of MDM rice to the SHG, vigilance sources said.
The SHG has been entrusted with the preparation of Mid-Day-Meal for Dundu Nodal UP School and seven other schools of the block, they said.
On the basis of a complaint, a trap was laid on October 13 and accused Behera was caught red handed in the office room of the Head Master of the Dundu Nodal UP School, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant, they said.
The bribe money was recovered and Behera arrested on Friday last.
