Joining issues with the Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union over the conversion row, the BJP's students' wing ABVP today warned it against casting aspersions on the RSS.
Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad's Coordinator Pushpendra Pachauri, while strongly criticising the statement of AMUSU vice president Masoodul Hasan who had said that "RSS is spreading ill will amongst people", asked him to "remain within limits" in his criticism of the RSS.
Hasan on Friday had said, "The time has arrived to finally confront the RSS which is spreading ill will amongst people by promoting divisive issues. The nation has now to decide whether it stands with the Father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi or with Nathuram Godse".
"Issues like love jihad and mass conversions of minorities went against national interest," Hasan had said blaming the RSS for orchestrating these issues in recent months.
The AMU Students' Union had yesterday issued an official statement on the proposed Christmas Day mass reconversion programme being organised here by the Dharm Jagaran Samiti.
However, the official statement skirted the issue pertaining to the contentious comments made by its vice president.
President of AMU Students' Union Abdullah Azzam said, "We have written a letter to the Union Home Minister drawing his attention to the likely fall out of provocative issues like organised and forced mass conversions on the country's law and order situation. We have urged him to take immediate precautionary measures for preventing any communal strife as a result of such campaigns.
