ACB arrests female food security officer for accepting bribe

A female food security officer was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here today, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000, sources said.
Allegedly, food security officer Rajashree Sawant had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to avoid taking action against taking action against the owner of one Trupti Provision Shop who had stored gutkha in his godown in Manvat village.
She had allegedly deployed her peon to collect Rs 40,000 on Wednesday afternoon, when the ACB struck.
A case has been registered against the officer and her peon, ACB sources said.
