Accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar Singh, who was the principal of Government Senior Secondary School Nithari near Sultanpuri.
The role of two other officers is yet to be ascertained in the case as they failed to supervise the conduct of the principal resulting in misappropriation & embezzlement of the funds.
FIR was recently filed by the ACB against Singh, who is now under suspension, on a complaint by a senior official of the vigilance department of Directorate of Education (DoE).
Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said in his tweet that a case of misuse of students welfare fund has come to light and ACB has arrested one princial namely Ashok Kumar Singh.
"These funds are meant to be distributed to all the eligible students in the financial year. The investigation showed that the accused delayed the distribution of funds in 2011-12 and 2012-13, respectively, meant for various students welfare schemes, though the money was withdrawn well in time; he kept the fund under his personal custody for a long period beyond the financial year applicable without any reasonable ground," the official said.
