ACB unearths Rs 2.23 crore assets of AP Transport officer

Anti Corruption Bureau today unearthed assets worth about Rs 2.23 crore allegedly owned by a senior transport department officer after conducting searches at his residence here in East Godavari district and other places in Telangana and Karnataka.
The agency has registered a case of disproportionate assets against A Mohan, Deputy Transport Commissioner.
The ACB conducted simultaneous searches at Mohan's residence at Kakinada and eight other places, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kadapa, and Anantapur districts of AP; Medak district of Telangana; and Ballari of Karnataka, belonging to his friends and relatives, an ACB release said.
During the searches, it was found that officer also owned eight open plots, a flat, a three-floor house and 54.5 acres of agricultural land, the release said.
The agency also found Rs 83,000 in cash, FDs of Rs 4 lakh, two kgs gold, five kgs silver, household articles worth Rs seven lakh and a car, it said.
The release said total assets worth about Rs 2.23 crores were unearthed but their market value could be much higher.

According to the FIR filed in the Vigilance Court in
Muvattupuzha, by VACB Special Cell, Ernakulam, the IAS officer during the check period from January 1, 2010 to September 30, 2016, was found in possession of pecuniary resources and properties disproportionate to his known source of income.
While the value of assets acquired by him during the check period was Rs 2.39 crore, his expenditure stood at Rs 72.20 lakh, totally exceeding his income of Rs 1.92 crore by 62.5 per cent, which is considered disproportionate.
The FIR alleged that the officer has committed an offence punishable under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
