Accused in robbery attempt case tries to end life

An accused in a robbery attempt case tried to allegedly commit suicide while he was being taken to police station after medical check up here, police said today.
Parshuram Chowdhari (33) was arrested in the wee hours yesterday along with three others and was taken to Virar rural hospital for medical examination last evening, Virar police station inspector S B Mane said, adding, soon after moving inside the police van, he banged his head with the handcuffs on.
Chowdhari suffered serious wounds on the head and was given first aid. He was then taken to the police station and later to the local court along with the three other accused, which remanded them to four days police custody.

Four persons were arrested by a police patrolling team in Vasai-Virar area yesterday while they were travelling in a four-wheeler and also seized a number weapons from them, foiling their robbery attempt.
Following the incident, Chowdhari was booked under IPC section 309 (attempt to suicide), police added.
