Achieve schemes target in 300-days, C'garh govt to collectors

Ahead of the assembly election in Chhattisgarh next year, Chief Minister Raman Singh today fixed a duration of 300-day for district collectors to achieve targets within several government schemes in the state.
The chief minister today reviewed progress and implementation of various schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Clean India Mission, MNREGA and others during a high level meeting of district collectors and senior state officials here at Mantralaya.
Hailing the development under various schemes in the past few years, the chief minister cited the next 300 days (nearly eight months) as crucial to accomplish the goals set under these initiatives, an official statement here said.

He directed the officials to draft an action plan and achieve the targets under these schemes within a time bound period of next 300 days, the release added.
Equating the aforementioned period with the death overs of a cricket match, Singh said the last 10 overs in any cricket match is considered as crucial and decisive so collectors should ensure a better coordination among various departments in their concerned districts for the purpose.
Meanwhile, the CM has instructed collectors to host Run for Unity event in every district on October 31 and a daylong district-level Rajyotsav on November 3 (to mark the states foundation day on November 1).

In the meeting, Singh closely reviewed the working of atleast 15 governments departments and gave them necessary instructions.

Singh instructed the officials to expedite progress under PMAY under which so far 1,08,383 houses have been constructed this year against the target of constructing 4,39,275 houses in 27 districts, the statement said.
In view of the drought like situation in the state during the ongoing kharif season, he had asked to generate employment under MNREGA in drought-affected areas and ensure timely payment of wages to labourers against their work, it said.
While reviewing the progress under Swachh Bharat Mission, the chief minister asked to complete the physical verification of open defecation free (ODF) village panchayats by March next year.

Besides, he specially instructed Koriya, Kanker, Gariaband and Bastar districts to improve their activities under clean India mission.
The chief minister is scheduled to chair a high level meeting of collectors and superintendents of police of all 27 districts tomorrow (October 24) here at Mantralaya during which he will take a stock of law and order situation in the state.
The move to set a timeframe for the district officials to scale the targets under government schemes is being seen as crucial as the assembly election is scheduled to be held next year in the state.
