Replying to a special call attention by opposition parties in the assembly on the two recent fire mishaps near Sivakasi that left 10 persons dead last month, Labour Minister S T Chellapandian said in one of the incidents red lead had caused the accident.
"Since these factories are functioning with the licence from Chief Controller of Explosives in Nagpur, it seems action is being taken for using the banned chemical and caused accident. Police is also taking necessary action," he said.
In order to train the employees on the skills needed in the industry, the Minister said, 157 persons were trained in the Security Training Centre at Sivakasi, which was started on January 20 this year.
