A case has been registered against human rights activist and rationalist Babu Gogineni for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and also on charge of sedition and other charges, police said today.
He was booked under various IPC sections including 121 (waging, or attempting to wage war) and 124-A (sedition), based on the direction of a local court with regard to a private complaint filed before it.
The case was registered on June 25 and it is under investigation, police said.
"Gogineni is a contestant in a reality show (Big Boss)," Madhapur Police Station Additional Inspector P Yadaiah Goud said.
The complainant, who is a city-based citizen, has accused Gogineni of hurting religious sentiments through his speeches.
