"Sana Khan, Ismail Khan and their servant Ramu Kanojia were arrested under IPC sections 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) following a complaint by media consultant Poonam Khanna," Senior Inspector, Amboli police station, Ramesh Khadtare said.
They were later produced before a court which granted them bail, the officer said.
According to the police, Sana Khan, who had appeared in Salman Khan-starrer Jai Ho and was also a part of reality TV show Bigg Boss in 2012, and her boyfriend Ismail threatened Khanna on October 21 over a newspaper article.
"The incident took place outside a hospital in Andheri. The victim had gone to the hospital for check-up. Ramu approached her and dragged her outside the hospital where Sana and Ismail misbehaved with her and threatened her," Khadtare said.
Khanna, whose family reportedly has Bollywood links, approached the police yesterday. "She claimed she had to undergo a treatment at the hospital due to health problems and hence she could not register the complaint immediately," said Khadtare.
The article had questioned the anticipatory bail granted to Sana in a 2013 kidnapping case. In May last year, Sana had been charged with attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl for rejecting her cousin's marriage proposal. Neighbouring Navi Mumbai police had arrested Sana's cousin Naved Khan and his three friends, but Sana secured anticipatory bail.
