The Chhattisgarh government has approved an additional rehabilitation package for the Naya Raipur project affected villagers apart from directing the officials concerned to organise self-employment training programmes for the youths there.
"Chief Minister Raman Singh has approved the additional rehabilitation package for the Naya Raipur project affected villagers while presiding over the meeting of Sashakt Samiti at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan) yesterday," an official said here today.
"Most of the demands of affected villagers have been addressed in this newly-approved package," the official added.
The additional rehabilitation package includes allotment of 'patta' (land lease) based on actual encroachment in known populated areas, allotment of residential plot of maximum 1,200 sq ft to each affected family in case of encroachment before August 10, 2005, and compensation based on the data before updation of land records, the official said.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the officials to organise self-employment training programmes for the youths of affected villages, the official said.
"He added that the youths should be given training in various skills like stonemasons (Rajmistri), electrician etc keeping in view the demand of manpower in ongoing construction works in Naya Raipur," the official added.
He also instructed the officials to allot shops to such youths on priority basis.
It was informed in the meeting that as per the additional rehabilitation package, Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) will acquire the land based on requirement of the project.
The NRDA will provide compensation as per the guidelines of year 2011-12 for the government lands that have been evidently encroached before November 1, 1992, and thereafter used for the purpose of cultivation.
Naya Raipur is the new capital city of Chhattisgarh, located around 17 kms away from the current capital Raipur.
