Oscar-winning singer Adele has chosen TV chat show host Alan Carr to be godfather to her seven-month-old son Angelo James.
The 'Rolling in the Deep' singer and her fiance Simon Konecki welcomed Angelo last October.
Although it was a close call between Carr and Adele's good friend Sid Owen, best known for his role as Ricky Butcher in hit soap 'EastEnders', the 25-year-old singer eventually picked the former, reported Sun online.
"It was a toss-up between Sid and Alan for the godfather role and technically kids can have more than one godfather if the parents want," a source said.
"But even though the talk was that Sid was front runner, Alan's been told by Adele he's the godfather because he does so much with her and her new family. He's stayed over at her house in London and gone to gigs with her as well as on long walks," it added.
Carr's title means he will have a great deal of responsibility when it comes to looking out for the tot, with the possibility of becoming a guardian in the future if anything was to happen to the couple.
"It means if anything happens to Adele and her partner Simon, he'll have a big part to play in Angelo's life. And if Adele's thought far ahead, Alan's likely to be named in her will as a potential guardian along with her mother Penny," the source said.
