All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA) today asked the government to initiate the process to grant Scheduled Tribe status to the adivasi community before Independence Day.
"If before the Independence Day, the government does not take any initiative for providing ST status to us, then the adivasis will launch a massive movement," AASAA President Raefel Kujur said while addressing a rally.
AASAA organised a rally at Dhekiajuli high school playground in support of its demand.
