The administration today said it will not permit any political party to stage a protest at the construction site of a housing project in Mandola village tomorrow.
The order comes in the wake of a proposed Maha Panchayat on Sunday, one of the several meetings and demonstrations by locals to press their demand for an increase in the compensation amount for their land.
The Uttar Pradesh Avas Vikas Parishad's project is spread over 2,600 acre near the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border in Loni here.
Senior Superintendent of Police H N Singh said that Section 144 of the CrPC has already been imposed and therefore protest or demonstration is prohibited in the area.
Security personnel have been deployed in the area to thwart any untoward incidents. A fire brigade and an ambulance have also been stationed at the the site, the officer said.
The administration has affixed notices, denying permission, on the houses of the local leaders who had planned public meeting and sit-ins at the site, he said
General secretary of the JDU, K C Tyagi, will reach here for the proposed Maha Panchayat tomorrow.
He said that by all means he will attend the meeting of farmers and alleged that the state government is trying to suppress the farmers' demands for enhanced compensation.
