Eight-time world champion Advani from Bangalore lost 2-4 to Barry Hawkins, while Mehta let go a 3-2 advantage to go down 3-4 to Stephen McGuire, who put in breaks of 101 and 75 in the sixth and seventh frames to wrap up the match.
India's leading snooker professional, Advani had pocketed the first frame but he faded away after that as Hawkins grabbed the second and third on breaks of 69 and 63.
In another match, Mumbaikar Mehta took the first, fourth (59 break) and fifth (50 break) frames, before McGuire bounced back to sent the Indian packing.
