Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today approved the state Home department's proposal to create 400 posts of Technical Advisors on contractual basis in the state police.
The posts would be created to reduce pendency of cases in all police stations to 50 per cent within a year, an official spokesman said here.
The advisors would be mostly inducted from retired inspectors and sub inspectors of police and temporarily fill up 400 posts of inspectors and sub inspectors presently lying vacant in police stations across the state.
The advisors would also be inducted from the financial sector to deal with banking/non-banking frauds as well as from judicial sector to tackle cyber crimes, the spokesman said.
The advisors would get a fixed salary of Rs 20,000 per month and Rs 6.4 crore has been proposed for this purpose in the coming budget, he said.
