As part of its expansion plans in the country, Aerospace Processing India Pvt Ltd (API) today inaugurated the second phase of its facility here.
The expansion will accommodate additional capacity and capabilities supporting water-based paint, solid film lubricant, sulfuric acid anodising, zinc-nickel plating and additional processes under development.
The current, fully integrated modular facility is spread over 40,000 sq ft and employs 150 people.
API, a joint venture between Aequs and Magellan Aerospace located at Aequs SEZ here, was the first third-party facility in India to be approved by both Airbus and Boeing.
The API facility also houses the environment-friendly tartaric sulfuric acid (TSA) anodising line approved by Airbus.
In addition, cadmium plating line is also coming online this year, the company said in a release here.
"We are continuing to grow and develop critical capabilities in India's aerospace manufacturing sector.
"This expansion will keep API at the forefront of aerospace special processing expertise in India and facilitate further growth across the global Aerospace supply chain," Aequs Chairman and CEO Aravind Melligeri said.
Phil Underwood, President and CEO, Magellan Aerospace, said Magellan has long-viewed its operations in India as fundamental to its global growth strategy and to deliver value to its customers.
During the inauguration of the facility, Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Industries R V Deshpande said the new facility reinforces the organisation's capabilities and its contribution towards industrial growth and will also create additional employment opportunities.
