In a statement issued today in response to Nitish Kumar's diatribe against Shah, the BJP said JDU and RJD were defaming its leaders out of "sheer frustration at the prospects of defeat at the hustings in Bihar".
"The rising popularity of BJP ahead of Bihar elections has frustrated the JDU, a symbol of suppression, and RJD, a marker of 'jungle raj', their electoral base is shrinking, which is why their leaders are levelling false and baseless allegations and using unparliamentary language against BJP leaders.
Dismissing Kumar's charges against Amit Shah, the BJP said Shah had been "acquitted by the court in the cases in which the then ruling Congress embroiled him by misusing probe agencies and the court also noted this".
Attacking Nitish futher, the BJP asked, "Does Nitish Kumar not consider the fodder scam a matter of corruption? Has he forgotten that not just Lalu Yadav but several RJD legislators have criminal backgrounds? Does he again wish to plunge Bihar into jungle raj?"
The BJP also alleged that goons were running the Bihar administration from jails.
"Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav want to take Bihar backwards. The people won't allow this and the BJP will win Bihar under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah," a party statement said.
