After encounter, alert sounded in Jammu ahead of PM's visit

In wake of an encounter in which three army personnel and as many militants were killed here today, an alert has been sounded in the region ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit tomorrow.
Jammu Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rajesh Kumar said an alert has been sounded in all the districts of the region, particularly those which lie on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Garbeeb Das said, "In wake of the terror attack, an alert has been sounded in Jammu region ahead of PM's visit to Udhampur and Poonch tomorrow."
Three army personnel and as many militants were among seven killed in a fierce gun battle that broke out today between security forces and militants who had sneaked into Arnia border sector along the International Border in Jammu district.
One civilian was also killed and two others were injured.
Army troops also foiled an infiltration bid along LoC in Rajouri district and held a suspected armed militant today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Jammu region tomorrow for Assembly poll campaign.
"We are reviewing the security set-up for the Prime Minister afresh in view of the terror attack with more caution. Elaborate multi-tier security has been put in place for the PM's rally in Udhampur," he said.
The venue of the rally at Battal Ballian in Udhampur district has been sealed for public after thorough sanitisation of the area, the police officer said.
Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway and bypass will be stopped in the night ahead of the PM's rally, he said.
Similar security set-up has been put in place in Poonch district where the PM is scheduled to address a rally tomorrow afternoon.
