AGP 'sold out', says Gogoi

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today termed the AGP as a "sold out" party, alleging that it was fighting elections by taking money from alliance partner BJP.
"AGP is a sold out party. It does not have any regionalism. Last time they came to us for an alliance in return of money, but we did not accept. Then they went to BJP and took money to fight polls," Gogoi said here.
"BJP is scared of losing and that is why they have formed so many alliances with AGP and BPF. They are just spreading misinformation and false propaganda," he alleged.

He wondered why the BJP, which branded him a 'corrupt' person, had not ordered any probe against him despite having the authority.
Gogoi also claimed that the infamous "secret killings" were taking place in Assam when AGP was in power in the state, while the BJP-led NDA was at the Centre.
Gogoi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "cheating" the people of Assam by not fulfilling the promises made during the campaigning of Lok Sabha polls and blamed him for failing to control rise in the prices of food and medicines.
Talking about the Rajya Sabha elections for two seats from the state, the veteran Congress leader said his party is in talks with five AIUDF MLAs, who did not get tickets in the Assembly polls from their party.

"I have requested them. I hope they will vote for our candidates," Gogoi said.
