DAMB today held its Board meeting, chaired by Development Minister Gopal Rai, and passed the budget for the estimated income of Rs 371.18 crore. The expenditure proposed is Rs 434.19 crore.
Giving details, Rai said the new fruit and vegetable market will reduce the burden from Azadpur wholesale markets.
"The new fruit and vegetable markets is expected to be built at a cost of Rs 800 crore. It will be built in two-and-a-half years. This market will be developed over an area of 70 acres.
Post demonetisation, the Delhi government has installed 38 PoS machines in Delhi mandis to reduce the hardships faced by traders and customers.
Changes are also in the offing for Ghazipur Mandi where a four-storey building with modern facilities is being constructed. There will also be modernisation of the flower market at Ghazipur. The budget allocated for this makeover is Rs 140 crore, he said.
According to the minister, the fodder market in Mangolpuri will be redeveloped as the new vegetable wholesale market.
The Gazipur poultry market will also see changes at a budget of Rs 120 crore. It will also house a three-storey building with modern facilities and 120 shops.
