The Commission comprising its Chairperson Justice Dr Aftab H Saikia and Member Tarun Phookan took cognisance of print media reports and news television broadcasts about Basanti Devi's death.
By its order in AHRC Case No.714/24/13-14, the Commission has ordered an inclusive probe into the death of the woman to be conducted by the Chief Secretary within a period of 30 days.
