"We plan to open 12 showrooms in India and 6 overseas in the next five years. We will invest Rs 120-140 crore to expand our retail presence. It be funded mostly from internal accruals," Ahujasons Shawl wale (P) Ltd Retail Head Bhuvan Ahuja told PTI.
New showrooms will be a mix of company owned and franchised. At present, the company has two retail outlets in Delhi and one in Tokyo in Japan. The company plans to open showrooms in Kolkata, Hong Kong and Beijing next year, Ahuja said.
The company, which gets about 60 per cent of its total turnover from exports, said despite local expansion, export will continue to account a major chunk in its total turnover.
"Exports is a very important part of the group as it creates brand awareness and market in international domain. Also, it contributes to volumes of the business which helps in strengthening the relations with suppliers," he added.
