Air India today said more than 90 people led by its engineering team worked to remove the SpiceJet aircraft which was stuck in mud while landing at the Mumbai airport on Tuesday.
The incident had forced shutting of the primary runway at the Mumbai airport.
In an exercise, which lasted for almost 24 hours, the disabled Boeing 737 aircraft was removed from runway 09/27 at around 21.38 hours on Wednesday.
"More than 90 people, led by the Air India Engineering team, worked round the clock in incessant rains to rescue the aircraft that had kept the primary runway of Mumbai airport shut disrupting operations at the airport," the national carrier said in a Facebook post.
The herculean effort also reaffirmed Air India's position as the custodian for the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and a section of the Gulf for the International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP), it added.
