The airline currently operates five times a week with its regional jet, CRJ-700.
The decision to enhance connectivity was driven by growing air travel demand on the route, the Air India said.
The flight that operated five days a week now -- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday -- will also operate on Thursday and Sunday, starting June 2, Air India said in a statement.
Air India had in January this year reduced the frequency of its service to Surat following shortage of aircraft at its Delhi base.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman thanked the civil aviation secretary for reintroducing additional flight services to the textile city from the national capital.
"Thanking Secy, Cv Av (Civil Aviation) Shri Choubey. Has assured me: No disruption to the flights to Surat," she tweeted today.
According to Air India, the flight will depart on Thursday and Sunday from Delhi at 0525 hours and will arrive in Surat at 0745 hours.
The return flight will leave Surat at 0825 hours and touchdown in Delhi at 1110 hours, it said.
The return flight AI 9608 leaves Surat at 0955hrs and lands in Delhi at 1135 hours.
