AIADMK today accused the opposition DMK, PMK, and DMDK of politicising rain and flood relief work by disseminating "false" information, and "scuttling" the State government's relief operations.
"A majority of opposition parties like the DMK, seeking political mileage, disseminate false information continuously, instigate people and scuttle relief operations," AIADMK mouthpiece Namadhu MGR said today.
In a front-page story in the mouthpiece titled "Opposition parties seek mileage even in people's grief," the ruling party alleged that DMK workers themselves posed like the general public and resorted to road blockades.
It accused the DMK of "resorting to road rokos" in a couple of places and "projecting" as if such protests were by the people.
"They (DMK partymen) are diverting (attention) by claiming their protests and violence as done by the people and blame the government."
"At a time when disbursal of relief assistance happens at the door steps of affected people in just few hours after receipt of information, some parties including the DMK, PMK and DMDK are conspiring to scuttle such efforts," it alleged.
Referring to flood relief work by Tourism Minister S P Shanmuganathan in Tuticorin District, the AIADMK said, "When he is rescuing the affected people, DMK and Puthiya Tamilagam chief Krishnasamy are stoking caste issues, and indulging in violence.
