Opposition AIADMK today urged the Lt Governor Kiran Bedi to initiate steps to curb sale of banned raffle tickets in the Union Territory.
Addressing reporters here today the AIADMK legislature wing's leader A Anbalagan said that although the police had claimed to have arrested five persons in the context of sale of banned raffle tickets the tickets are available at various centres.
Several families investing in the purchase of the tickets had perished and there should be immediate steps to prevent the sale of the banned lottery tickets, he said.
Anbalagan called upon the Lt Governor to intervene and initiate steps on war footing to prevent the illicit sale of the tickets.
