The opposition AIADMK on Sunday hit out at the Congress government headed by V Narayanasamy for having almost constantly an interim budget without adopting full-fledged annual financial statements.
Addressing reporters here, the leader of the legislative wing of the AIADMK A Anbalagan said the financial statement for the fiscal 2019-2020 was yet to be presented although it should be tabled by this month-end.
He said the situation would pave the way for the Centre to have Puducherry as a Union Territory without an Assembly.
Even when the session is convened for the budget it would have sittings for very limited number of days and sufficient time would not be available for the members to air their views.
"Congress government is interested more in pleasing its alliance partner the DMK by training guns on the NDA government and at the Lt Governor and for this politically motivated purpose the government holds the Assembly sessions," he said, adding that since the last three years after this government assumed office, a full-fledged budget was an exception.
