To press for their demand for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Jammu, the members of the coordination committee along with civil groups defied restrictions to hold a candle light protest march here.
The AIIMS coordination committee supported by the members from other civil society groups held a candle light march here last night as they demanded AIIMS for Jammu.
The AIIMS coordination committee, an amalgam of more than 70 social, religious, political and business organisations in Jammu, was established after the reported shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir.
District authorities had imposed restrictions under section 144 of CrPc on the movement of four or over four people in any part of Jammu district since Thursday.
"There has been continuous injustice with the people of Jammu and the issue of shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir is a glaring example of that injustice, the people here are resolved not to tolerate this injustice anymore," Abhinav Sharma president of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar association Jammu said.
While reacting to the statement of the MoS in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh that sanctioned AIIMS will be first established in Jammu, Sharma asked if to clarify whether it was his personal or official statement.
"The people of Jammu need a clarification from the MoS in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, he must tell the people whether it was his personal or official statement," he said.
