South India's regional airline Air Pegasus has added a new ATR 72-500 aircraft taking its fleet size to a total of three.
The addition is part of its plan to take the fleet tally to 10 aircraft by end of the calendar year, Air Pegasus said.
"We will receive two more aircraft within two months and have ordered five more aircraft," MD of Air Pegasus, Shyson Thomas said.
With the new aircraft, Air Pegasus will spread its wings to Puducherry, Goa, Kochi and Vijayawada, the airline said in a statement.
As per recent data by IATA (International Air Transport Association), domestic air traffic in India grew 22.9 per cent in January, the highest among all countries while the global growth rate was 6.8 percentage.
Indian market also reported the highest capacity addition (21.9%) and the highest load factor among all markets (84.7%) on a year-on-year basis, IATA said.
Based out of the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, Air Pegasus now operates flights to Hubbali, Thiruvananthapuram, Madurai, Mangaluru, Chennai and Kadappa.
It plans to scale up its services to connect Tuticorin, Belagavi, Rajahmundry and Puducherry.
Puducherry , Goa, Kochi and Vijayawada services will be launched by next month, the statement added.
Air Pegasus, promoted by Decor Aviation, is part of the Decor Group, that provides ground handling services to Indian and foreign carriers across 11 airports in India.
