AIUDF Nagaon district unit filed a defamation case yesterday against seven persons of the TV channel for airing the news item on October 28 and 29, party General Secretary Zakir Hussain Choudhury told reporters today.
The case was filed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Nagaon, Choudhury said.
AIUDF MLAs from Barpeta district along with party's district leaders also filed a defamation case in the CJM's court in Barpeta against the news channel's news item.
A similar case was filed by Dhubri district AIUDF unit in the CJM Court there recently against the channel.
All the cases were filed under IPC Sections 500 (defamation), 501 (printing or engraving matter known to be defamatory) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against the Noida-based news channel's Managing Director, Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief and Editor Director and others.
