The 801st annual Urs of Khwaja
Moinuddin Chishti, commemorating the death anniversary of the Sufi saint, officially began tonight with the sighting of the moon.
Lakhs of devotees are expected to converge at Ajmer Sharif shrine with the official start of the festival.
It had unofficially begun after the traditional flag hoisting ceremony at the 'Buland Darwaza' of the saint's dargah on May 7.
'Chadar' from former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was offered at the dargah by his personal secretary Shiv Kumar, sources in the BJP said.
