In a rare gesture, opposition Ajsu party today asked the Hemant Soren government to confer 'Kranti Veer' award upon the chief of ruling JMM Shibu Soren for his role in the creation of Jharkhand.
Speaking against the vote of confidence motion moved by the JMM-Congress-RJD government, Ajsu president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahto said Jharkhand movement was the base for all tribal political parties and Shibu Soren had sacrificed throughout his life in the struggle.
So he (Shibu Soren) should be conferred the 'Kranti Veer' award, Mahto said.
The Hemant Soren government, the ninth in 13 years, won the trust vote by six votes in the 82-member Jharkhand Assembly. It got 43 votes and the opposition bagged 37.
