Considered a cornerstone of 70s gay literature, the book chronicles the search for love and pleasure in the mid- seventies dance-club subculture of New York, reported Deadline.
Poul, who has directed TV series like "Six Feet Under", "The Newsroom" and the feature "The Back-up Plan", will helm the project which originally centred on the unlikely friendship between the charismatic and mysterious Anthony Malone and the wildly flamboyant Andrew Sutherland.
RT Features' productions include Frances Ha, Love is Strange, Mistress America, and The Witch.
Production is scheduled to begin in summer 2016.
