ALIMCO inks pact with UK firm for wheel chairs under Make in

Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment today signed an agreement with UK-based Motivation Charitable Trust here for manufacturing affordable state-of-art wheel chairs having compliance to WHO guidelines in the country.
"The agreement is seen as step to gradually decrease the dependency of import of the products from China and to promote the products made at ALIMCO under the 'Make In India' initiative," said a statement issued by the Ministry.
The agreement is a step forward in continuation to the MoU signed between the two firms in April last year.
The MoU was signed by D R Sarin, CMD, ALIMCO and Richard Frost, Chief Executive Officer of M/s Motivation Trust, UK in the presence of Social Justice Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot.

As per the agreement, motivation will buy at least 20 per cent of the ALIMCO products at cost price minus the royalty charges and will train the personnel of the corporation who in turn will train the ALIMCO persons, the statement added.
