GAIL India Ltd, the nation's largest gas transmission firm, is moving into a swanky 22- storey building, where all its offices will be housed under one-roof.
Oil Secretary Saurabh Chandra yesterday inaugurated the new office building GAIL Jubilee Tower at Noida, just outside the national capital, the company said in a statement.
The 22-storey GAIL Jubilee Tower, which has been dream project of company Chairman and Managing Director B C Tripathi, is 118 metres tall, more than one-and-half times the height of the Qutub Minar (73 metres). It is one of the tallest buildings in the national capital region and is equipped with high-speed lifts.
"The Jubilee Tower has been designed as per LEED-Platinum Green Building norms," the statement said.
The building has its own captive power generation plant using gas engine generators and the waste heat recovered is used to run the Air Conditioning system. A 30 KW solar power plant has been installed for area lighting.
Its electricity load will be 40 per cent less than other similar high-rises. The building is equipped with high performance glass with insulation on walls, occupancy and lux level sensors.
"It is one of the few buildings in the NCR with a mechanised car parking. The three-tier semi-automatic car park can accommodate 265 vehicles in the basement," it said, adding that the building has a total built-up area of 2.5 lakh square feet, with the typical floor area being 9,000 sq ft.
It has a sitting capacity of 600 people and also houses the National Gas Management Centre which is linked to all the major pipeline centres of GAIL.
The entire natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas network of GAIL can be monitored from the NGMC, the first of its kind in India.
While the company's corporate and registered office will stay in the national capital, all functional and operational units including its city gas subsidiary GAIL Gas Ltd will move into the new building which was built in just four years.
