All-religion prayer meet on Mahatama Gandhi's death anniv

An all-religion prayer meeting was held on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 66th death anniversary at the Gandhi Smriti here.
Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaisawal, Culture Minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch, among others, attended the function.
Around 100 children from Muzaffarnagar riot victims' families and other schoolchildren participated in the prayer meeting.
Ansari, Singh and other Union ministers paid floral tributes amid rendition of 'bhajans' by various artistes, including renowned singer Rita Ganguly.
A two-minute silence was also observed by those present at the Gandhi Smriti, formerly known as Birla House.
It is here where Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on January 30, 1948.
