With bullet injuries on his right thigh, Sk. Babu is now undergoing treatment in the SCB Medical College and Hospital here under heavy security after the encounter that took place last night.
His condition is stated to be stable.
Getting a tip-off that Sk. Babu and another person Md. Sakil were waiting in the deserted islet, a police team raided the spot, the police said.
Seeing the police team, the duo opened fire to which the police team responded by firing two rounds, injuring one of them, Cuttack city DCP Sanjib Arora said.
