French power equipment maker Alstom today said it has bagged a 30 million euro contract from state-owned BHEL to supply parts and services for a thermal power plant in Odisha.

"Alstom has been awarded a contract by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) worth close to 30 million euros (about Rs 250 crore) to supply components and services for the 2x660 MW Banharpalli super thermal power project located in Jharsaguda, Odisha," the company said in a statement.

Alstom will cooperate with BHEL in designing the boilers and supply identified pressure parts of the 660 MW supercritical boilers, along with windboxes, according to the statement.

It will assist BHEL with technical advisors during the construction and commissioning of the units.

Key components will be made in Alstom's manufacturing facilities in Concordia (US) and Durgapur (West Bengal).

The first and second units are expected to be commissioned by 2018.

"We are pleased to win this contract for which we will provide our leading supercritical power plant solutions," said Patrick Ledermann, Vice President of Alstom Thermal Power & Renewable Power in India.
