Aluminium up 0.5% on global cues, spot demand

Metal for delivery in March traded marginally higher by 0.40%

Aluminium prices gained 0.49% to Rs 111.90 per kg in futures trade today as participants strengthened their positions amid an upward trend overseas.

Further, strong demand in the spot markets influenced metal prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in February inched up by 55 paise, or 0.49%, to Rs 111.90 per kg in a business turnover of 334 lots.

Also, the metal for delivery in March traded marginally higher by 45 paise, or 0.40%, to Rs 112.85 per kg in 85 lots.

Marketmen said apart from increased domestic demand, a firming overseas trend after Greece reached a provisional deal with Eurozone Finance Ministers and ahead of housing data from the US, mainly influenced aluminium futures here.

Globally, aluminium advanced 1.1% at the London Metal Exchange.
