Ambala mayor tenders apology for his statement

City Mayor Ramesh Mal today tendered an apology for his statement hurting the religious sentiments of Sikh community.
Mal made the remarks at a public meeting here on Friday.
His statement came under sharp criticism from Sikh leaders who said that the mayor had compared Sikh's tenth Guru Gobind Singh with a Congress leader.
Mal said it was not his intention to compare local Congress MLA Venod Sharma with Guru Gobind Singh. He said if the sentiments of Sikh Community were hurt by his statement, he apologised for that.
